On my side - ive got one line that goes back to lancaster pa, ironically when my parents moved us here we were returning home (sort of). My wife thought i was amish but it turns out that the marriage was in a protestant church. Another line goes to basford, nottinghamshire in england. so basically ive decided that robin hood was about my family except we were probably the sherrif rather than those sissies in tights.

But yeah I don't know much about this sort of record keeping but I'd imagine that the British did it about as well as anyone during the last 1000 years or so.
She claims that one or her relatives on her mom's side was native american. I keep hoping she'll find out that her great great (etc..) grandmother was named 'shitting bear' or something like that.

Yeah, I'm really named after an emperor. Kind of cheesy I guess. And I frequently get remarks about it when Chinese people hear it
