So I bought a Razer DeathAdder instead.

Do you really get what you pay for? I used to use the logitech ball mouse for like 7 years, I loved it.

honestly no it's only worth it if you're serious about your FPS gaming (and I haven't played one competitively in 6 years)

But it IS possible to really treat yourself if you buy a Razer. It is noticeably smoother - which doesn't make you a better internet troll or anything but it does feel kind of swank when you swipe your pointer around.

And the packaging is impressive. The logitech G500 is supposed to be a great gaming mouse but it looks cheap. The Razer has a soft blue glow emanating from the scroll wheel and the logo on the top of the mouse. It's +7 geek cred.

Mine is on left. The one on the right is actually an updated version of the Diamondback that I can't locate. Mine didn't look exactly like that one but it was pretty close.

Modest but cheap. Why trackball when you can....?

Well to be fair I occasionally run into people who swear by the trackball. I've even met dedicated gamers (first person shooter gamers) who use it to frag people.

i have that too in blue, it's quite nice for the price. i just cant figure a way to use it with illustrator effectively.

for watches it was mostly illustrator too, and the track ball totally fucks up my coordination

I think it's basically not worth the trouble for illustrator. I'm having a hard time getting into illustrator actually. I understand the concepts but I'm not used to thinking that way.

So very nice for photoshop though - and the more I learn the more I appreciate the tablet.

it'll require practice. illustrator gives u a lot more control over things like text/fonts, layouts, and just easier to make changes in general. i rarely use ps for anything other than photos.

I've been forcing myself to use Illustrator for all of the small assignments and only falling back on Photoshop occasionally. I think it'll come around eventually.

By the way the online classes aren't as bad as I'd feared when it comes to feedback. A quarter of the grade is related to peer review so you never have to worry about getting feedback from your classmates.

In addition the instructor responds to each and every assignment and they've been pretty helpful even at their worst. The best instructors have made frequent use of video capture devices to demonstrate changes and make suggestions.

back @ Cinn - the best thing about getting one of these gaming mouses is the fact that you can turn off the acceleration.

Well that's a little misleading. You can always turn off acceleration but for people using the cheap pack-in mouses at 400 dpi it's generally not going to give you the best results.
You get a mouse with a couple thousand dpi, set the sensitivity where you like it and turn off the acceleration.

It'll feel real weird at first but after a while you'll like it better.

A lot of people never notice but windows pcs default to an acceleration setting that moves the mouse farther when you move it quicker. It's not a linear ratio in other words and it's something that can really fuck a guy up when you're playing a first person shooter.

All told I think it'll be 6 or 7 but I haven't gotten specific since I got my transfer credits evaluated. The classes go quarterly - about 6 and a half weeks per class.

I have about a week left in the current 2 classes and that'll have me up to 18 credits complete. Then I have something like 12-15 transfer credits so I could be as high as 33 right now.

And I am maintaining a 4.0 so far.

You should really try to find a used logitech, it´s amazing the amount of control you can get with your thumb. I used to play fps all the time with it.
