the anime just started. it looks ok, maybe i was expecting too much. and wait for better subs.
the manga is only at ch 103 so i dont know how many eps they can squeeze out of it.

start with the manga, the anime is slow and the art isn't as good as the manga

it's got more momentum than the usual slice of life, it's more about career advancement.

doesn't even look like mangastream uploads bakuman.. and then AnimeA has up to like 113 but once i get to 81 no pages load for any chapter afterwards...

mashiro wants to do a one-shot so he comes up with the idea of a romance story. when he struggles for an idea of how to write girls' feelings he turns to azuki who reveals how she felt when she first saw mashiro. so the plot device of mashiro learning to make a romance manga is mirrored by the romantic exchange of the characters' themselves which is what makes bakuman romantic as well.
add onto that the fact that the creators must be riffing on some of the jump employees/mangakas and possibly also making a subtle commentary on their own career.
