fake boxer apparently beat fruitdealer with a 2 rax timing push. fruit was too comfortable with the FE and someone finally figured out how to punish him for it.

Nada beat Leenock, Zenio over Idra, Kyrix over Ensnare and Overtherainbow beat Check.

Probably the best thing for Starcraft 2's growth. Brood War's Starleagues rarely had the same individuals winning more than once.

finally got my sc computer working again.
the new rage in GSL3 is for Terran players to punish Zerg FE by supplementing marines with SCVs.
Personally I can't micro all that well even at my best so I'm not ready to do anything like that.

I tried a 3 rax timing push in three straight matches. The first two times I messed it up pretty badly and I think the problem was that I was trying to fit too many marauders into it. I was very late each time. The first player was Zerg and he not only managed to FE, he also had a decent mix of banelings, zerglings, and roaches before I came at him. I met him halfway while I was trying to get an SCV pulled for expansion and the banelings were super effective against my unmicroed bio ball. Sad face.
Second match I went even heavier with the marauders against a protoss guy. Not only was I late again - I also met this guy half way as well. Even worse - the pathing had split my forces in half.
Third time's a charm. Zerg player who FE and tried to Nydus cheese me. I was much faster, had more marines, and he was relying on his late trickery to keep me from noticing that he'd grabbed one of the golds.

I wasn't gosu before but I'm extra sucky now. Need to get some of my mojo back.

oh god i have nerd rage.

first match - serious tactical error. i had 16 marines, he only had 2 siege tanks left. I retreated.
i should've known that he was tech rushing but i didn't have faith in my timing and i assumed that i was just too late.
i regrouped and teched up but the dope had been rushing BCs and i didn't scout it - thus no viable counter. Was prepared for small numbers of everything but not 7 of those.
moral - wasn't aggressive enough after my push.

second match - another serious tactical error. This guy 5 roach rushed me and i turtled. Well he went pure mutalisks. Again i was prepared for small numbers of everything but not 40 of those. Again I wasn't aggressive enough.
I was doing my typical 3 rax build again but i wasn't very far into it when he hit me. Rather than continue on with it after raping his early roaches I only pumped a few units out of the 3 rax i'd already built.

third match - watched the replays, got mad. got nerd mad. 3 raxed a FE zerg player. He made me retreat. I pushed again. I was relentless. He finally broke when I brought medivacs up to fix the stim damage. Not a well played game by me - I let my macro slip - but the pressure was too much for my opponent as well. All he managed in response was a feeble raiding force of mutalisks.

nerd rage abating somewhat...

i think i got it now. P tried to proxy pylon me on scrap station. i easily fended off his first rush, destroyed the pylon, then swept over him in a wave on the counter-attack. i even remembered to expand during the push so even if he'd survived my bio he would've been one basing against my two, and being terran of course i had claimed the island. tied for easiest win yet.

TvZ on scrap station.
Goddamn scrap station.
I think Terran players need to be able to win quick or else transition into mech successfully in order to win here. I tried both. I did my standard 3 rax, got into his main and basically wiped out both of our armies. Didn't have enough left to continue to push but he didn't have enough left to counter either.
This is about the time where I went 'oh shit'. I absolutely hate having to deal with mutalisks and with the reset I was in trouble cause I knew I'd need to pump marines and he could pump roaches.
So I bunkered the front and massed marines for a while. When the Mutalisks came I was prepared to chase them around with a bio ball and my marauders tore down the rocks that block the short path. Then I tank pushed.
I met the mass of roaches that I expected to find but I had enough m and ms to keep my siege tanks rolling and I was able to wipe out his entire ground army. From there it was a matter of siege mode in his main and reinforcing with bio and vikings to keep the mutalisks off of them.

He was a gold player with about a 100 games played. My bio went through his units faster than they should've so I suspect that I was the only one upgrading. I only had combat shield, stim, conc shells, and the eng bay level upgrades. Didn't even get to 2nd and 3rd level.

never see anyone online.

lost a match to a pretty good gold player. he kept a watch on me and knew I was coming well in advance. Used forcefield on the ramp to effectively counter my army which was a superior force at the first point of attack.
i kept coming at him. i'm not really familiar with the rate of energy use for forcefields so i thought he might be tapped out. Wrong.
Then i thought he might be tapped out again. Wrong again.
By this time I'm in trouble but I think - maybe i can just control the map. Wrong again. He had a superior force already.
So I tried to cheese with SCVs and Thors but he was a good player who kept his macro up and he was on three bases already.
It was one of those losses that I didn't mind losing.

Then I ran into a silver zerg who should've kicked my ass with how bad I screwed up. I saw the fast expansion and thought 'proxy barracks ftw!'
But i didn't get there in time to punish him. Honestly should've gone all-in right away, with SCVs and everything ala Boxer.
Nope. He fought off my first push, then he caught my proxy barracks, then some mis-rallied marines were isolated and eliminated.
I was basically screwed right there if he'd followed it up at all but he didn't push out and I've seen the zerg FE into passive play often enough to suspect mutalisks would come next. Bingo. Wall of turrets get the job done.
Behind the scenes I had built a bunch of barracks with reactors. I knew he had roaches but I figured him for a mutie-speedling guy and I was right. I hit 170 supply worth of marines and SCVs and went after him. Fun fact - I actually only had about 20 SCVs by this point so it was a FUCKTON of marines.
Found his zerglings apart from his other units. Massacre. Then I found his roaches. Massacre. Then I found his broodlords. Massacre.
He tried to base trade with me then but I had about a 100 angry stimmed marines ripping apart his main and he only had about 10 muties in mine.

i'm sure you're right. I looked at the replay and I was ahead in army strength at the time of the attack. If I'd pulled back and saved most of my army I could've done exactly what you suggested.

I looked back through my match history. I'm still bronze but I'm playing plenty of gold and plat.

Against Bronze I'm 2-0
Against Silver I'm 7-1
Against Gold I'm 8-11 (but 16 of those matches were custom matches against my brother)
Against Plat I'm 2-4

I think I might get placed silver but I hope not because I've been kicking their ass.

You might be thinking these games too much and not following your instinct. When SC2 came out I was platnium within 2 days, but that might have been all the nydus rushing perfection Hadouuuken

every time someone nydus rushes me i kill them. they must not be doing it right.

my brother was kicking my ass by using protoss the last two weeks.
I'd been doing very bio-heavy builds of course and he loves to go early robo.
so of course he's able to hold off my initial push and then crush me with a colossus ball.

Finally inspired me to do a 1/1/1 and I got two wins out of it. He does not like siege tanks, vikings counter the colossus with good micro, and it gives me additional mobility options such as banshee.

Yeah I actually feel like I'm getting to the core of the Terran slow push again. The Kulas Ravine match was a great one. Expanded late but safely behind the watchful eye of my tanks and marines, delayed his own expansion twice with banshee harass, finally finished him off after he overcommitted to immortals.
I was like 'seriously? you're throwing immortals at my marines?'
And then it was roflstomp
